About

Deanna graduated from Stanford University in 2019 with a degree in Creative Writing. She’s co-author and co-illustrator of the graphic novel Luisa, about Puerto Rican feminist and labor union organizer Luisa Capetillo, who was arrested in the early 1900s for wearing a man’s suit in public.

Deanna has been drawing comics since 4th grade, when she first created “School Yard,” a series of strips about the ridiculous episodes that come along with attending middle school. She began writing and directing short films around the same age, and considers herself a storyteller at heart.
